Uprightness and active FIs
© Shelagh O'Neill
People love the feeling of uprightness. It brings with it optimism and confidence, and is altogether more functional than whatever degree of collapse it replaces.

Whatever we've been working towards in an FI – connection, efficiency, eliminating parasitic movements – more uprightness is almost always one of the results. And people usually recognise the change immediately.

This is a moment of great potential, and it can open the door to recognising less obvious changes.

We will investigate how people inhibit their uprightness, and what pointers we can offer them to change.

We will also review ways of bringing more active participation of the student into FI - involving people who struggle with the idea of passively following the lesson. This is particularly useful for over-thinkers as well as for people who are deealing with a loss of ability in their nervous system - for example, those with Parkinsons, or Alzheimers.
