The Feldenkrais International Training Centre (ITC) is the first training centre in the UK and one of the first in Europe. It continues to attract students from all over the world. Its international staff is drawn from some of the most experienced Trainers and Assistants teaching the Feldenkrais Method today. The trainings are accredited by the European Training Accreditation Board of the International Feldenkrais Federation.
Garet studied with Moshe Feldenkrais in his final training in Amherst, Massachusetts, and Tel Aviv, Israel, graduating in 1983. In 1994, she became one of the first Europe-based Trainers and the first resident Trainer in the UK.
Garet Newell co-directed the first Feldenkrais professional training programme in the UK, which began in London in 1987, and went on to establish the Feldenkrais International Training Centre in 1990. She has since directed thirteen successful trainings in Sussex and is the Educational Director of the current trainings. Over the years, she has taught in training programmes around the world and brings this extensive experience, together with her clarity, care and humour, to the conceptual framework of each four-year training.
We are pleased to announce that the next Four-Year Professional Feldenkrais Training, Sussex 14, will begin on 23 May 2026. For the first time, the training will take place in the vibrant seaside city of Brighton. It is scheduled in five eight-day segments each year, totalling the forty training days annually required by the international Training Accreditation Boards. The segments are planned during the East Sussex County Council school holiday dates.
The training will be hosted at The Dance Space, a modern venue in Brighton, just a ten-minute walk from the main train station. With its creative atmosphere, seaside setting and excellent transport links to London, Gatwick and the rest of the UK, Brighton offers an inspiring environment for learning and exploration.
If you are interested in training to become a Teacher of the Feldenkrais Method, we offer the opportunity to meet us through our Weekend Introductory Courses in Hassocks, West Sussex. These courses, designed by Garet Newell, provide a deeper experience of the Method and an introduction to the training process. We recommend them for anyone considering the training, whatever their previous experience.
If you are unable to attend an introductory course, you are welcome to visit our Sussex 13 training and observe a training day in progress in Ditchling, East Sussex.
